Woodford tractor trailer crash

1 min read

WOODFORD — A tractor trailer crash on Route 9 east of Notch Road led to a temporary road closure Tuesday night, but no injuries were reported, authorities said.

Daimon Mencias-Perez, 32, of Rockingham, Virginia, was driving a 2016 Volvo truck westbound when he lost control due to icy road conditions at about 7:19 p.m. The trailer began to slide, causing Mencias-Perez to veer off the roadway.

The vehicle’s cab struck an embankment and jackknifed before coming to a stop.

Mencias-Perez, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unharmed in the crash.

The front end and driver’s side of the cab sustained contact damage.

Vermont State Police responded to the scene, along with Bennington Rural Fire Department, Vermont DMV Enforcement, and A’s Towing.

The clear and cold weather did not contribute to the accident, police said, but the road was wet with patches of ice.
