Driver crashes into telephone pole in Maidstone

MAIDSTONE — A single-vehicle accident involving a New Hampshire man occurred near the area of 1519 VT Route 102 on Jan. 17 at approximately 10:35 p.m.

Cody Riff, 25, of North Stratford, New Hampshire, was driving a 2010 Ford F 350 when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and struck a telephone pole.

According to the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks, Riff was traveling northbound when his vehicle drifted off the roadway and collided with the pole.

Riff, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, did not sustain any injuries.

The vehicle was totaled in the incident.

The Groveton Fire Department and Vermont Electric Co-Op were on the scene to address the damage.

The road was temporarily closed to allow crews to repair the affected pole and powerlines.

The road conditions were clear with light snow falling at the time of the accident.
