BRISTOL — A motor vehicle crash on the evening of Jan. 4 led to the citation of a Bristol man for leaving the scene and violating an ignition interlock device restriction, according to Vermont State Police.

Police responded to a report of the crash at the intersection of VT Route 116 and Carlstrom Rd. around 10:13 p.m. The operator, identified as 52-year-old Randy J. Gorton, had left the scene by the time authorities arrived.

Further investigation showed that Gorton was required to have an ignition interlock device installed in his vehicle, a measure typically mandated for drivers with prior offenses related to impaired driving.

The device was not present in the vehicle involved in the crash.

Gorton was subsequently issued a citation on Jan. 18 to appear in Addison County Superior Court to face charges related to the incident.

The court date has been set for a later time.
