Two-vehicle collision in Georgia sends one to hospital

GEORGIA — A two-vehicle head-on collision at the intersection of Ethan Allen Highway and Oakland Station Road resulted in one person being transported to the hospital for minor injuries on Jan. 12.

Dayana-Alejandra Munoz-Diaz, 20, from Saint Albans Town, was driving a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek with a 2-year-old juvenile passenger when the accident occurred.

Justin Bidwell, 42, of Saint Albans City was the operator of the second vehicle involved, a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500.

According to the Saint Albans Field Station, the crash happened when Munoz-Diaz entered Ethan Allen Highway from Oakland Station Road without yielding to the oncoming traffic.

Bidwell, who was traveling north, was unable to avoid the collision.

Munoz-Diaz, who was wearing her seatbelt, sustained suspected minor injuries and was taken to the Northwest Medical Center.

The juvenile in the vehicle was properly restrained and did not suffer any injuries.

Bidwell also escaped the incident without injuries.

Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage.

The highway was closed for several hours to facilitate an on-scene investigation by the state police.

Authorities are still investigating the crash and have called for any witnesses to come forward with information.
