CORNWALL — A local man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle accident late Friday night.

At approximately 11:42 p.m. on Jan. 12, Vermont State Troopers were dispatched to a reported crash on VT Route 30 near Ridge Road in Cornwall.

Upon arrival, they found a 2017 Subaru Forester, which had been traveling south, facing northward on the side of the roadway.

The driver, Oliver Berlic, 38, of Cornwall, was wearing his seatbelt and did not sustain any injuries, though the vehicle was totaled with significant front and driver’s side damage.

The crash occurred when Berlic, after rounding a corner, drove off the road, overcorrected, and consequently spun around.

The vehicle went off the road a second time, rolling onto its driver’s side.

Troopers observed signs of impairment when they spoke with Berlic.

After screening, he was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI and transported to the New Haven Barracks for processing.

Berlic was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on a date to be determined.
