POWNAL — A Pownal man was apprehended by Vermont State Police on Sunday after failing to meet the terms of his release and an outstanding arrest warrant.

Authorities conducted an initial check on Jan. 11 at the residence of Donald Hurley, 31, but did not make contact with him at that time.

The check was part of an effort to verify compliance with a conditions of release order and to serve an arrest warrant issued for Hurley’s failure to appear in Windham County Superior Court – Criminal Division.

On Jan. 15, state troopers visited Hurley’s address on Shady Lane again and this time successfully took him into custody.

During the arrest, troopers developed probable cause to charge Hurley with a violation of the conditions of his release, specifically for breaching his mandated 24/7 curfew on the date of the initial visit.

Following his arrest, Hurley was processed at the Shaftsbury Barracks.

He was subsequently transported to the Marble Valley Correctional Facility after he was unable to post the required $100.00 bail.
