Commercial vehicle crash disrupts Route 16 traffic in Dover

1 min read

DOVER — A commercial dump truck veered off Route 16 Northbound near exit 9 on Jan. 15, leading to traffic delays as authorities responded to the incident.

At around 10:45 a.m., James Cartmill, 60, of Concord, lost control of his Peterbilt dump truck, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and come to a stop in the tree line.

Cartmill reported soreness following the accident and was treated at a local urgent care facility.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

New Hampshire State Police Troop A, supported by Troop G, Dover Fire/EMS, the Department of Environmental Services, and RS Audley Construction, managed the scene.

The right lane of Route 16 was closed for over three hours to facilitate the vehicle’s recovery and the subsequent cleanup.

The initial investigation suggests a mechanical issue led to the crash, but the case remains open as authorities continue their inquiry.

Witnesses or individuals with information are encouraged to contact Trooper William Bohnenberger.
