Bennington man arrested as fugitive from justice after traffic stop

BENNINGTON — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a local man wanted in New York on Saturday night.

Vermont State Police apprehended 35-year-old Richard L.

Bump of Bennington after pulling over a vehicle on North Street around 1:07 a.m.

An investigation during the stop revealed that Bump, a passenger in the vehicle, was the subject of an active extraditable arrest warrant issued in New York.

Bump was taken into custody without incident and was later lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in the Bennington County Superior Court—Criminal Division on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
