Haverhill opens warming shelter amid power outage

HAVERHILL — Amid a widespread power outage, Haverhill Emergency Management Department has announced the opening of the Robert E. Clifford Memorial Building as a warming shelter today for residents seeking refuge from the cold.

The facility, commonly known as the Recreation Building, will provide a warm space for individuals to charge electronic devices, make a warm cup of coffee, and stay comfortable during the outage.

Deputy Emergency Management Director Bonnano will be overseeing the operations at the warming center.

Residents in need of these services are encouraged to visit the shelter or contact Deputy EMD Bonnano for more information at 603-838-0195 or 603-787-2661.

In addition, Haverhill Police Department duty officers will be making rounds throughout the day to check in on the community and assist at the warming shelter as needed.
