Rutland Town woman arrested on domestic assault charge

RUTLAND — Troopers from the Vermont State Police – Rutland Barracks responded to a domestic dispute call on US RT 4 E on Jan. 11, at approximately 10:51 p.m.

Maranda Smith, 22, of Rutland Town, was arrested after an investigation determined she had caused bodily injury to a family or household member.

Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Rutland Barracks for processing.

Following the arrest, Smith was issued court-ordered conditions of release and a citation to appear at Rutland Superior Court – Criminal Division on Jan. 12, at 12:30 p.m.

The Vermont State Police have not released the name of the victim, in line with their policy on domestic and sexual assault cases.
