Rutland man held without bail following assault

RUTLAND — A local man was arrested early Thursday morning on a slew of charges stemming from an alleged domestic incident.

Vermont State Police took Jacob P. Ells, 28, of Rutland Town, into custody after responding to a report of a family fight at around 12:19 a.m.

According to authorities, Ells is accused of committing multiple offenses including 1st Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault, 2nd Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault, Domestic Assault, Unlawful Restraint, Violation of an Abuse Prevention Order, Interference with Access to Emergency Services and committing offenses in the presence of a child.

Following the response by Troopers from the VSP Rutland Barracks, Ells was processed at the same location and then lodged at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility.

He is being held without bail.

Ells is scheduled to appear before the Rutland County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Jan. 12 at 12:30 p.m.
