Northborough man arrested for assault with a weapon at Cumberland Farms

NORTHBOROUGH — A 61-year-old Northborough man was arrested Friday after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife in the parking lot of the Cumberland Farms at 15 Main Street.

Police responded to the disturbance call at 12:20 p.m., where witnesses reported that the man had brandished a knife and threatened harm to a female attempting to park her car.

The victim and the suspect were reportedly strangers.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived but was apprehended a short distance from the convenience store.

Following an investigation, he was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.

The man is scheduled for arraignment in Westborough District Court on Tuesday morning.
