DUMMERSTON — A 70-year-old Dummerston woman died Thursday afternoon following a structure collapse on her property the day before.

June Howe was working with her husband to dismantle a house trailer on Old Ferry Road when the roof gave way around 10:35 a.m. Wednesday.

Howe was trapped under the debris and sustained significant injuries.

First responders, including Vermont State Police troopers, the Dummerston Fire Department, and Rescue Inc., responded quickly after a 911 call from Howe’s husband.

After extricating Howe from the wreckage, she received emergency care at the scene and was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.

She was later airlifted to Elliot Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire, where she succumbed to her injuries on Jan. 11.

The Vermont State Police are investigating the incident, which is not currently considered suspicious.
