Springfield police seize stolen firearm, ghost gun from repeat offender

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) in collaboration with the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, successfully recovered a stolen loaded firearm and an unloaded “ghost gun” on Jan. 10, leading to the arrest of a repeat offender.

At around 12:45 p.m., members of the FIU, guided by Sgt. Jaime Bruno, apprehended 38-year-old Jose Allende on the 0-100 block of Belmont Avenue after a traffic stop.

The arrest followed intelligence that Allende was carrying a firearm.

Detectives discovered Allende with a cross-body bag containing a loaded gun reported stolen from Norwich, Connecticut, along with an unloaded ghost gun and three firearm magazines.

Jose Allende faces multiple charges, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, two counts of carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a high-capacity magazine/feeding device, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property less than $1,200, and a firearm violation with two prior violent or drug crimes.
