Second arrest made in Fall River homicide case

FALL RIVER — A second suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the Gove Street homicide that occurred last December, authorities said Thursday.

Julio Ardon, 26, of Fall River, was arrested around 7:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of 464 Birch Street by members of the Fugitive Unit.

Ardon was wanted on a warrant for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon issued out of East Boston District Court related to the death of Wilfredo Landaverde Arevalo, 34, of Medford.

Ardon is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court following his arrest.

The investigation dates back to the morning of December 15, when East Boston officers responded to a report of a stabbing at 186 Gove Street.

Upon their arrival, they found Landaverde Arevalo suffering from life-threatening stab wounds.

He was transported to a local hospital by Boston EMS, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit continues to review the incident and is seeking information from the public.
