Dummerston woman injured in structure collapse

DUMMERSTON — A 70-year-old woman was seriously injured Wednesday morning when a structure on her property collapsed, trapping her beneath the debris.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:35 a.m. on Old Ferry Road as the woman and her husband were dismantling a house trailer.

The roof unexpectedly caved in, leaving the woman trapped.

Vermont State Police troopers responded swiftly after the victim’s husband called 911.

The Dummerston Fire Department and Rescue Inc. assisted in the rescue operation, working together to free the woman from the wreckage.

Once extricated, emergency medical care was provided on-site.

The victim was then transported by ambulance to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.

Owing to the severity of her injuries, she was later airlifted to a trauma center in New Hampshire.

Authorities are treating the incident as an accident.

The woman’s name has been withheld until her family can be notified.
