Man faces charges for abuse prevention order violations in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD — A Massachusetts man was arrested late Monday night after allegedly violating a restraining order in Pittsfield, Vermont State Police said.

Paul E. Sweeney, 54, of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, is accused of two counts of violating an abuse prevention order, with incidents occurring on Jan. 1 and again on Jan. 8.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland barracks responded to the scene on Silver Spring Hill Rd. at approximately 10:04 p.m. Monday.

Upon investigation, it was determined that Sweeney had violated an active order meant to prevent abuse.

Sweeney was apprehended without incident and taken to the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks for processing.

Following the processing, he was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center pending a court appearance.

Sweeney is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 12:30 p.m. to face the charges.
