WORCESTER — After months of investigation, Worcester Police Detectives have secured an arrest warrant for Chequan Griswold, 24, of Boston, in connection with the August 27 shooting at Institute Park.

Griswold faces multiple charges, including Armed Assault with Intent to Murder and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (firearm).

He was also charged with carrying and discharging a firearm without proper licenses and within 500 feet of a dwelling.

On Dec. 29, Boston Police apprehended Griswold on the outstanding warrant.

In a related development, on Sept. 12, Worcester Police, Massachusetts State Troopers, MSP K9 units, and US Marshals arrested Omar Molina in Holden.

Molina was wanted on similar charges stemming from the same incident.

He was found at a residence in Holden and taken into custody without incident.

The original incident occurred during the Caribbean Festival at Institute Park, where officers and festival-goers heard gunshots near Salisbury and Boynton St, leading to a panic.

Two victims, aged 15 and 23, were struck by bullets but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

They were quickly attended to by officers and transported to a local hospital.

Investigators believe the shooting victims were innocent bystanders caught in crossfire and were not the intended targets of the shooting.
