SALISBURY — A Lawrence, Massachusetts man was arrested Friday in connection with an extensive drug trafficking investigation in Salisbury, following a series of undercover operations, Salisbury police said.

Farlyn Vizaury Ruiz, 35, faces charges for trafficking in fentanyl and distribution of a Class B drug, cocaine, after Salisbury Police patrol officers and the Criminal Investigations Division launched a probe in November into the regular distribution of narcotics in the town.

Throughout December, undercover officers made multiple purchases of fentanyl and cocaine from Ruiz, leading to an arrest warrant for two counts each of distributing Class A and Class B drugs.

During an undercover operation on Jan. 5, Ruiz delivered a substantial amount of fentanyl and cocaine, which led to his apprehension.

Upon booking, biometric data revealed that Ruiz was also wanted out of Middlesex Superior Court on two counts of trafficking heroin and cocaine related to a 2010 case in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Ruiz had provided a different name at the time of his arrest in 2010.

Detectives are now conducting an additional inquiry into Ruiz’s use of multiple aliases to avoid detection of his criminal history dating back over a decade.

Ruiz was arraigned at Newburyport District Court on Friday, where bail was set at $25,000 cash.
