DUNBARTON — A Dunbarton man narrowly escaped serious injury early Friday morning after his car struck a rock wall on Stark Highway North.

The incident occurred at about 7:45 a.m. near 191 Stark Highway North (Route 13) when the driver of a Nissan Versa, who has not been identified, fell asleep while driving, according to the Dunbarton Police Department.

Emergency responders from the Dunbarton Police and Fire Departments arrived at the scene to find the vehicle had veered off the road due to the driver’s fatigue.

The operator, an adult male, sustained a minor facial injury and was treated on site by medical personnel.

The Nissan Versa suffered significant damage in the collision and was removed from the scene by Duval’s Towing and Recovery.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported.

The Dunbarton Police Department is using this incident to remind drivers about the importance of being well-rested before operating a vehicle and the potential dangers of driving while drowsy.
