Dover police investigate projectile fired into home

DOVER — A joint search by Dover police, Westwood Police Department, and Massachusetts State Police was initiated on the evening of Dec. 21 after a resident of Hilltop Road reported property damage from a projectile.

Early findings of the investigation revealed that the projectile had penetrated a rear window of the home and lodged in an interior wall.

Despite the residence being occupied at the time, no injuries were reported.

As the investigation progressed, authorities determined that the projectile was fired from a high-powered air rifle on a neighboring property.

The rifle has been confiscated by investigators, who are continuing their inquiry with the intention of pursuing criminal charges against the individual responsible.

Officials have confirmed that this was an isolated incident, posing no further threat to community safety.

The Dover Police Department expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of local police departments and the support from the community during the investigation.
