Providence woman faces charges for stolen vehicle, unlicensed driving after crash

PROVIDENCE — A 30-year-old woman was arrested Monday morning following an accident investigation on Route 146, according to Rhode Island State Police.

Troopers took Ashley Laureano Rivas, into custody at 8:06 a.m. She faces charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and driving without a license for the fourth or subsequent offense.

The arrest stemmed from an investigation into a vehicle collision on the Providence stretch of Route 146.

Laureano Rivas was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks before being transported to Sixth Division District Court for arraignment.

Authorities have not yet provided additional details regarding the circumstances of the accident or how the stolen vehicle came into Laureano Rivas’s possession.

The ongoing investigation is expected to shed more light on the events leading up to the arrest.
