Four indicted in connection to 2023 Fall River homicide

FALL RIVER — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced the indictment of four men in connection with the May 13 homicide of 23-year-old Diamonte Odom.

District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III disclosed the indictments as a result of a prolonged grand jury inquiry led by Assistant District Attorney Tara Burdman, in collaboration with Massachusetts State Police and Fall River Police detectives.

Detective Luis Vertentes of the Fall River Police and Detective Robert Twitchell of the state police were the primary investigators.

Tajon Saxon, 26, faces charges of Murder, Carrying a Loaded Illegal Firearm, and Carrying an Illegal Firearm.

Saxon is currently the subject of a widespread manhunt and is also wanted for two counts of Accessory to Murder-After the Fact related to a May 2021 double-homicide in Fall River.

Authorities urge anyone with information on Saxon’s location to contact (855) MA-SOLVE or use the anonymous text-a-tip service.

Quanif Johnson, 26, indicted on similar charges including Murder, was also charged with drug trafficking and firearms offenses.

Johnson is presently detained in Rhode Island for a separate homicide case, and it remains uncertain when he will appear in Massachusetts for arraignment.

Dioni Tavarez-Leonirio, 25, charged with Accessory to Murder-After the Fact, was arraigned on December 22 with bail set at $5,000 cash.

Devin Alves, 18, faces charges related to drug trafficking and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Alves was arraigned and held on $7,500 cash bail.

The incident that led to these indictments occurred on the night of May 13, when Fall River Police were called to 275 County Street for reports of gunfire.

Odom was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his face and later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.

With two murder suspects yet to be arraigned, the DA’s office has limited the release of further details about the investigation.
