Sheldon man arrested on DUI charges after crash

SHELDON — A single-vehicle crash on Mill Street by Shawville Road led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Sheldon man on DUI charges, according to the Vermont State Police.

The incident occurred on Jan. 1 at approximately 7 p.m. when authorities were alerted to the accident.

Nicholas LaRocque, the driver, exhibited several signs of impairment at the scene.

Emergency medical services evaluated LaRocque as a precaution before he was screened for driving under the influence.

Following the assessment, LaRocque was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and processed at the St. Albans State Police Barracks.

LaRocque was later released with a citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court to face the DUI charge.

The Vermont State Police have not released further details regarding the crash or the specific indicators of impairment observed.
