FARMINGTON — A Farmington police cruiser was struck head-on by a Honda Accord just after midnight on New Year’s Day, according to authorities.

The collision took place on Main Street when the Accord, driven by an unnamed individual, crossed the center line and collided with the on-duty officer’s vehicle.

Both the officer and the Accord’s driver were transported to a local hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.

Initial investigations suggest the driver of the Accord may have been under the influence at the time of the incident.

Due to the involvement of a Farmington Police Officer in the crash, the Farmington Police Department has handed over the case to the Rochester Police Department and the Strafford County Technical Accident Reconstruction Team, who will conduct an independent investigation into the events leading up to the collision.
