Dorchester teen arrested on multiple charges after shooting

DORCHESTER — A 19-year-old Dorchester man was arrested Monday night following a shooting that left a juvenile female injured, police said.

Avante Young-Dabney was taken into custody after officers responded to a reported shooting at around 8:51 p.m. near 27 Washington Street.

The victim, whose identity has not been released due to her age, was found with a gunshot wound and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were directed to 20 Castlegate Road, where the suspect reportedly fled.

After repeated efforts to contact the residents of the apartment, three individuals eventually exited, and Young-Dabney was identified as the suspect in the shooting.

He faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and armed assault with intent to murder.

Young-Dabney is expected to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court.

The incident remains under investigation by the officers of District B-2 (Roxbury).
