TROY — A large-scale fire broke out at the historic Troy Mills early Monday, prompting a multi-department response and escalating to a third alarm before dawn.

Firefighters from Troy Fire/Rescue and Forest Fire Department were first on scene at approximately 12:26 a.m. after reports of a blaze on Mill Street.

Assisted by Fitzwilliam, Richmond, Jaffrey, and Rindge fire departments, the first fire officer to arrive confirmed a working building fire and immediately requested a second alarm, drawing additional resources from the Professional Firefighters of Keene IAFF Local 3265, Swanzey Fire Department, Marlborough NH Fire Dept., and Winchendon, MA Fire.

The intensity of the fire soon warranted a third alarm, bringing yet more mutual aid to combat the flames.

A special call for two extra engines was answered by Dublin Fire Department and Royalston Fire & EMS Association.

During the incident, one person sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.

A second ambulance from Cheshire County EMS was dispatched to the scene.

Fortunately, no further injuries were reported.

Authorities have involved the Fire Marshall’s office in the investigation, particularly due to recent construction activities at the site.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
