TOPSHAM — A local woman was arrested early Sunday morning after authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance.

Vermont State Police said they arrested Brigette Elliott, 35, on charges of domestic assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, and three counts of violating conditions of her release.

The incident occurred at a residence on VT Route 25 in Topsham.

Troopers received the emergency call at about 7:12 a.m. and upon arriving at the scene, they determined there was probable cause to take Elliott into custody.

During the arrest, Elliott resisted the troopers, further resulting in charges.

Due to state policies, the name of the victim of the domestic assault was withheld.

However, Jerry Towne was identified as the victim of the simple assault perpetrated by Elliott.

Following her arrest, Elliott was processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks and then lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility.

The case remains under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
