SHAFTSBURY — A Vermont State Police traffic stop on US Route 7 led to the arrest of a 38-year-old Bennington man wanted in New Hampshire for heroin sales.

At 11:28 a.m., Dec. 27, a trooper stopped a vehicle driven by Joshua Willette at mile marker 16.8.

The routine stop quickly escalated when authorities discovered Willette had an active warrant for his arrest for the sale of heroin, issued by New Hampshire.

Willette was taken into custody without incident and was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.

He is expected to face extradition proceedings and is scheduled for arraignment at the Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
