Two-vehicle crash in Benson leads to DUI arrest

BENSON — Vermont State Police responded to a collision involving two vehicles on VT RT 22A near Lake Road today.

Dalton Bowen, 30, of Benson, was driving a 2016 Toyota Scion eastbound when he failed to yield to George Coro, 74, of Orwell, who was driving southbound in a 2018 Ford F-150.

The resulting crash caused major damage to the front end of Bowen’s vehicle and moderate damage to Coro’s truck.

Coro sustained minor injuries and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center.

During the crash investigation, troopers detected signs of impairment in Bowen’s behavior.

After conducting a DUI screening, Bowen was arrested and taken to the Rutland Barracks for processing.

He was later released with a citation to appear at the Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the incident, and road conditions were reported to be dry and normal despite the cloudy weather.

Further details of the crash are under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
