Rutland woman arrested on domestic assault charges

RUTLAND — A family dispute on Christmas Eve led to the arrest of a Rutland Town woman on multiple assault charges, according to the Vermont State Police.

Troopers responded to a call at approximately 6:57 p.m. involving a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, they determined that Melissa Knox, 56, had committed two counts of first-degree aggravated domestic assault as well as an additional count of domestic assault.

Knox was taken into custody without incident and processed at the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks.

Following processing, she was released with a citation to appear in Rutland County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Dec. 26.

The Vermont State Police have withheld the name of the victim in accordance with policies protecting individuals involved in sexual assault or domestic violence cases.
