Waterbury man cited for possession of amphetamines following traffic stop

WATERBURY — A routine traffic stop led to the seizure of a vehicle and the discovery of amphetamines, resulting in a citation for a 39-year-old E.

Montpelier man, Vermont State Police reported.

Troopers pulled over Michael Bernier on Nov. 17 at 9:31 a.m. for a motor vehicle violation.

During the stop, officers suspected the presence of drugs in Bernier’s vehicle, which led to its seizure and a subsequent application for a search warrant.

The warrant was granted and executed on Dec. 9, when a search of the vehicle uncovered a substance that tested positive for amphetamines.

Bernier was issued a citation for possession of amphetamines on Dec. 23, following the investigation.

Details on the initial violation that prompted the traffic stop were not released.

Bernier is expected to appear in court to face the charges at a later date.
