POWNAL — A two-vehicle crash occurred on US Route 7 near Stewart’s Shops at approximately 11 a.m. Friday, involving a Massachusetts resident and a local from Bennington.

Vermont State Police said Donna J. Wescott, 73, of Williamstown, Massachusetts, was driving her 2010 Chevrolet Malibu northbound when she attempted to turn left into the Stewart’s parking lot.

Simultaneously, Kevin Callanan, 63, of Bennington, was traveling southbound toward Massachusetts in his 2020 Nissan Murano.

Wescott reportedly failed to yield to Callanan, resulting in the Malibu’s rear passenger side colliding with the Murano’s front passenger side.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage in the incident.

Authorities confirmed that both Wescott and Callanan were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash and did not suffer any injuries.

Wescott’s vehicle was able to leave the scene under its own power, while Callanan’s vehicle required towing services provided by All Service Citgo.

The crash caused no significant traffic disruptions, and the scene was cleared shortly after the police response.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
