1 min read

WEST YARMOUTH — A routine traffic stop late Sunday night resulted in the arrest of a Mashpee man on charges of narcotics possession with intent to distribute.

Jerome Trent, 48, was a passenger in a white pickup truck that was pulled over shortly before 9:45 p.m. for crossing the double yellow lines on Route 28.

According to the Yarmouth Police Detective, the vehicle did not immediately stop when signaled to do so.

Upon halting the truck, the detective found the window tint to be excessively dark, preventing a clear view of the interior.

When the detective used his flashlight to look inside, he observed Trent making suspicious movements, suggesting he might have been concealing a weapon.

Following an investigation, Trent was removed from the vehicle and arrested for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, and for possessing Dextroamphetamine/Amphetamine, commonly referred to as Adderall.

Both substances are classified as Class B narcotics.
