Pedestrian struck in South Yarmouth

SOUTH YARMOUTH — A pedestrian was hit by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Route 28 and Willow Street, prompting a road closure and an ongoing investigation, Yarmouth Police reported today.

The incident occurred earlier this morning, and a section of Route 28 has since been closed to traffic as authorities investigate the scene.

Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area for the next hour and to seek alternative routes when possible.

The injured pedestrian has been transported by Yarmouth Fire to receive medical treatment.

The extent of the injuries has not been disclosed.

The Yarmouth Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) unit, and the Regional Crash Reconstruction Team.
