Fire in Oak Bluffs, 2 firefighters injured

OAK BLUFFS — A fire broke out on Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road last night, prompting a response from multiple fire departments and support agencies.

The Oak Bluffs Police and Oak Bluffs Fire-EMS Department were called to the scene at approximately 9:15 p.m. after reports of a fire which involved two motor vehicles and a building.

Firefighters from the Tisbury Fire Department, Edgartown Fire Department, and Up-Island Fire Departments worked alongside the Oak Bluffs teams to extinguish the flames.

The Edgartown Police Department also provided assistance during the incident.

Eversource MA, the power utility company, was called to manage any electrical hazards, while The Salvation Army USA and the Oak Bluffs Building Inspector were present to offer additional support and assess the damage.

Officials confirmed that there were no injuries reported among the public.

However, two firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling the fire.

The efforts of all responding individuals and departments were acknowledged, with a note of thanks issued for their rapid response and assistance in handling the emergency.
