Williamstown man charged with simple assault

WILLIAMSTOWN — A local man was charged with simple assault after allegedly striking a woman in the face during an altercation, police said Tuesday.

John Cahill, 42, of Chelsea, is accused of hitting Krystin Holt, 24, of Barre, three times in the face, causing her pain during the incident on VT RT 14 in Williamstown, according to the Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to the scene at 9:03 p.m. on Dec. 12 after receiving a report of a fight.

The investigation revealed the extent of the assault, leading to Cahill’s arrest.

Cahill was issued a criminal citation and is expected to appear in court to face the charges at a later date.

The specific date and time of his court appearance have yet to be announced.
