Suspicious person report leads to breaking and entering arrest in South Yarmouth

SOUTH YARMOUTH — A report of a suspicious individual attempting to enter a garage early Tuesday morning led to an arrest after Yarmouth Police officers responded to the South Yarmouth neighborhood.

Upon arrival, officers found no signs of entry into the garage; however, they discovered that a vehicle nearby had been broken into.

Shortly after, a man fitting the description of the suspicious person was stopped by officers on bicycle patrol in West Yarmouth.

During the investigation, evidence linking the man to the vehicle break-in was found in his possession.

David Farrell, 42, of Barnstable, was arrested and faces charges for receiving stolen property and breaking and entering a vehicle during the nighttime.

Yarmouth Police are reminding the community to be vigilant in securing their property, advising residents to promptly bring packages inside, lock their car doors, and safeguard any valuable items.
