Suspect arrested in 2021 Tremont Street homicide case

BOSTON — Boston police have arrested a suspect in connection with a 2021 homicide on Tremont Street, officials announced Tuesday.

At about 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, members of the Fugitive Unit apprehended Zykaris Hamilton, 19, of Mattapan, in the area of 450 Canterbury Street.

Hamilton was wanted on murder and unlawful possession of a firearm warrants issued by Suffolk Superior Court for the death of Fermin Baez, 32, of Dorchester.

The arrest stems from an incident that occurred around 8:47 p.m. on June 7, 2021, when officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to reports of a shooting at 1510 Tremont Street.

Upon arrival, they found Baez with a life-threatening gunshot wound.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Hamilton is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court.
