MONTPELIER — A Montpelier Police Department operation on Dec. 10 resulted in the arrest of a Hyde Park man following a domestic dispute on a public sidewalk on Langdon Street.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a call about a domestic altercation.

Upon arrival, they spotted a man showing signs of a recent physical fight exiting a nearby building.

When approached, the man fled and resisted arrest, leading to a brief scuffle in which an officer sustained minor injuries.

Sergeant Benjamin Michaud, along with Officers Sabrina Boutin, Joshua Rolland, and Michael Goslin, were able to subdue and safely detain the 30-year-old suspect.

Berlin Police Department and Washington County Mental Health Services provided support during the incident.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries sustained prior to police arrival and was evaluated for alcohol incapacitation by mental health professionals.

Following the investigation, authorities found probable cause to charge the individual with disorderly conduct, simple assault of a police officer, and resisting arrest.
