Driver arrested on suspicion of DUI after crash in Coventry

COVENTRY — A one-vehicle crash on VT RT 14 led to the arrest of a Connecticut man on suspicion of driving under the influence late Thursday night.

Vermont State Police responded to the incident at approximately 8:25 p.m. where they found a 2012 GMC Sierra in a ditch.

The operator, identified as 22-year-old Michael Patton of Naugatuck, CT, was not injured in the crash.

According to authorities, Patton had traveled off the road to the right and into the ditch while heading south on VT RT 14.

The front end and passenger side panels of the truck sustained damage.

Upon assessing Patton, troopers observed signs of impairment.

Following an investigation, he was taken into custody for suspected DUI and transported to the Derby Barracks for processing.

Patton was released with a citation to appear in court at a later date.
