Bethel man arrested on domestic assault, unlawful mischief charges

BETHEL — A local man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a reported domestic incident that led to charges of domestic assault and unlawful mischief.

Camden I. Murphy, 26, of Sharon, was taken into custody by the Vermont State Police at approximately 7:31 a.m. at a residence in Bethel.

According to authorities, troopers responded to the scene after receiving a report of a disturbance.

The investigation revealed that Murphy had assaulted a former partner and caused damage to property.

Details regarding the nature of the altercation or the extent of the damage were not disclosed by the police.

Following the arrest, Murphy was transported to Southern State Correctional Facility.

The identity of the victim has not been released by the Vermont State Police, in line with policies to protect victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The case remains under investigation by local law enforcement.
