Man arrested for felony unlawful trespass in Williamstown home

WILLIAMSTOWN — Vermont State Police have apprehended a 62-year-old man from Burlington on charges of felony unlawful trespass at a residence on VT Route 14.

According to authorities, at approximately 10:04 p.m. on Dec. 4, troopers were dispatched to the home of 80-year-old Richard Flies in Williamstown following a report from his security company of an intrusion.

Upon arrival, police discovered Stephen Romprey inside the residence.

Romprey was arrested without incident and subsequently transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.

The homeowner, Mr. Flies, was not present during the incident, and there were no reports of injuries or further disturbances.

The Vermont State Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unlawful entry.
