LYNDONVILLE — A routine check on a suspicious vehicle by Lyndonville Police Department led to the arrest of a 51-year-old Island Pond man wanted on a two-decade-old warrant, authorities said Wednesday.

According to the Lyndonville Police Department, Officer Gerrish contacted the vehicle at the intersection of Broad Street and Depot Street on Dec. 5 at 11:50 p.m.

The occupant, identified as Mark Warner, was found to be wanted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in New York.

The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) had listed Warner for nationwide extradition.

The original warrant was issued on Nov. 10, 1999, in Fonda, NY, for a probation violation related to a second-degree forgery conviction.

Following his arrest, Warner was ordered by the court to be held at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility with bail set at $10,000 cash or surety.
