Shaftsbury man arrested for violating abuse prevention order

SHAFTSBURY — Vermont State Police arrested a 31-year-old Bennington man Sunday morning for allegedly violating a temporary abuse prevention order.

Authorities responded to a disturbance on Buck Hill Road at approximately 10:25 a.m. where they found Cotie D. Stanley had come within 300 feet of the plaintiff, the plaintiff’s residence, and children.

The court had previously ordered Stanley to stay away from these individuals and locations.

After developing probable cause, police took Stanley into custody.

He was processed at the Shaftsbury Barracks and released with a citation to appear in court on Dec. 4 at 12:30 p.m. to answer to the charge of violating the Abuse Prevention Order.
