Waterbury man cited for church vandalism

WATERBURY — A local man was cited for unlawful mischief early Tuesday morning after allegedly vandalizing a church window, state police said.

Authorities were called to a dispute on South Main Street around 12:15 a.m.

During the investigation, troopers found that Ronald Towne, 35, of Waterbury, had damaged a ground-level window at the United Methodist Church, located at 56 S Main Street.

Towne was located shortly after the incident and issued a citation to appear in court.

He was released following the citation.

The church has not released a statement regarding the extent of the damage to the property.
