KEENE — A teenage boy was taken to Cheshire Medical Center with serious injuries sustained during a sports-related incident at the Keene Family YMCA, officials reported Thursday.

Keene Fire Lt. Greg Seymour said the fire department responded to an emergency call at the YMCA located at 200 Summit Road shortly after 5 p.m.

Chesterfield Police Officer Lance Rouse, who was present when the incident occurred, administered initial treatment to the boy.

YMCA staff members also assisted in the care of the injured teen.

While the specific nature of the injury was not disclosed due to privacy concerns, the event led to the temporary closure of the YMCA’s basketball court Thursday evening.

The area was reopened by Friday morning.

The incident is currently under investigation by the YMCA, and further details regarding the cause of the injury have not been released.
