WORCESTER — Worcester Police arrested a Fitchburg man early Tuesday after interrupting an attempted break-in on Gibbs Street.

At approximately 2:52 a.m. on Nov. 29, officers responded to a call about a break-in in progress.

Arriving at the scene, they were met by a woman yelling from her window, “He’s trying to get inside!” Officers located 32-year-old Oniz Janniere of Fitchburg near the residence.

Upon detaining Janniere, police learned he had tried to force his way into the home of an unknown resident.

The resident reported opening the door to find Janniere attempting to enter, at which point she pushed him away with a broomstick and instructed him to leave before securing the door.

Despite her efforts, Janniere persisted in trying to enter the home.

During the arrest, officers found two double-edged knives on Janniere.

He was charged with attempt to commit a crime (armed burglary), two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.
