POULTNEY — A local man was arrested late Tuesday night on multiple charges including driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident, Vermont State Police said.

Matthew Fuller, 43, of Poultney, was taken into custody after troopers responded to a report of a crashed and abandoned vehicle on VT Route 140 at about 10:25 p.m.

Upon arrival, troopers located Fuller nearby and observed signs of impairment during their interaction with him.

Fuller declined to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was subsequently arrested for DUI.

He was transported to the Rutland State Police Barracks for processing.

Fuller was later released with a citation to appear in Rutland Criminal Court to face charges of DUI second offense, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving with a suspended license.
