SHAFTSBURY — State Police charged a local man with the illegal possession and use of explosives after responding to a reported explosion in the town on the afternoon of Nov. 25.
Authorities said Anthony Sfogliano, 44, of Shaftsbury, detonated Tannerite, a type of explosive, without the necessary permit or license.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Cleveland Ave.
The Vermont State Police assisted the Shaftsbury Fire Department at the scene.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported due to the explosion.
Sfogliano was issued a citation and released.
He is scheduled to appear at the Bennington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Jan. 29 at 8:15 a.m. to answer to the charges.
